Afghanistan is in a “downward spiral,” report says

The Afghan government’s ability to stem the Taliban’s resurgence is questioned by a National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) report. Specifically, the report cites a breakdown of central authority of the Afghan government, exacerbated by rampant corruption.
