There is one case where Sid argument is valid. If the salinity of the oceans near greenland is reduced the atlantic heat conveyor will shut down bringing an ice age upon us. it is possible that that even would stop the rise of ocean levels. However, the acidification of the oceans will kill most of marines life off in the next 50 years. The H plus cation concentration has increased by 25% in the past 50 years, H plus means that organisms must dedicate more energy into shell production. Energy they do not have to burn in the long run. national conservation groups are at present collecting an freezing in liquid nitrogen samples from the worlds reefs because they will all be dead within 20 to 30 years. Fish stocks world wide are down 85% in the last 15 years. The oceans are in fact dying before our eyes. And the water level will continue to increase unless we are in for another ice age. Where-ever these people move to they better consider that the world is becoming much more lifeless due to human over poplulation, greed, and destruction. My god help us out of this mess.

Otherwise Sid is incorrect in his statement due to wishful thinking and perhaps
wanting to think the world is not in a serious position to eradicate numerouse species.

If you want to know how the cycle works PBS did a good job of it in:
Scientific American Frontiers Hot Planet - Cold Comfort.
Its possible that a Ice age will reduce sea levels due to increased snow build-up but without global circulation of heat the climate will implode.

oh shut up people… ethiopians are not perfect. just because the guy is telling the truth about you. why are you so upset? its true.. i ve seen it with my own eyes. they go home and find those stupid wives that are good for nothing.. they dont go to school, they dont work. all they do when they come here is stay home, make babies, and swallow up all the hard working husbands money. and someone is calling the guy a baria… you all are black too it doesnt matter if your hair is curly or nappy. you see i know the truth . stop trying to paint this fake facade for ethiopians. we are just like everybody else trying to make in a foreign land.

This only complain about the show (compared to NewsHour) is that, guest appearances were too short. It is hard to learn much about a particular topic with only 2 or 3 Q & A’s. Perhaps had the produces given more time to each topic, thing could have been different.

Also, since the show was in late night time slot, WF sounded like a repeat of other news outlets.

So long, and hope PBS will come with another version of this informative show.

I disagree with Karl, never forget that US taxpayers don´t finance anything, mexicans workers work very hard for very unfair wages.
They do the jobs american don´t want to do it and in most cases they pay their taxes so I think they contribute a lot to the US economy.
I think I don´t have to remind you that Britain became a rich contry not because they worked a lot, they did it because they were a pirates and had colonies.
Sorry Kerry but I´m part of the 16% of the mexican work force who still reside in Mexico and I can tell you that my standard of living as an architect here is much better than most of the americans have in the US.

Was so saddened to learn of the ending of the best tv programn ever. When it was scheduled at midnight I stayed up and when it changed to 10pm other favorite programs went unwatched.

Not enough praise can be given to Diljit for her wonderful job in hosting the program.

Can the viewers be of any help in keeping this program on the air? Keep us posted please.

Morris and his wife Esther went to the state fair every year, and every year Morris would say, “Esther, I ‘d like to ride in that helicopter”.
Esther always replied, “I know Morris, but that helicopter ride is fifty dollars — and fifty dollars is fifty dollars”.

One year Esther and Morris went to the fair, and Morris said, “Esther, I’m 85 years old. If I don’t ride that helicopter, I might never get another chance.”

The pilot overheard the couple and said, “Folks I’ll make you a deal. I’ll take the both of you for a ride. If you can stay quiet for the entire ride and not say a word I won’t charge you! But if you say one word, it’s fifty dollars.”

Morris and Esther agreed and up they went. The pilot did all kinds of fancy maneuvers, but not a word was heard. He did his daredevil tricks over and over again, but still not a word. When they landed, the pilot turned to Morris and said, “By golly, I did everything I could to get you to yell out, but you didn’t. I’m impressed!”

Morris replied, “Well, to tell you the truth, I almost said something when Esther fell out, but you know — fifty dollars is fifty dollars.”

We are so disappointed that World Focus will not continue. We regret that the program was televised in Boston at 5:30 pm so that it was not accessible to many potential viewers. Thanks to Tivo we regularly have watched the show and have appreciated the in depth analysis of world news. For example, the program’s coverage of the recent announcement by Israel that it will build more settlements in Jerusalem included information as to the process underlying this decision, information not provided in any other newscast, and which helped explain the political discord in Israel that is behind the announcement. Such thorough and excellent reporting will be sorely missed. We for one would be pleased to make a financial contribution to keep the show on the air should you so elect to pursue this as an option.

Somehow or the other we only recently found World Focus. It is a wonderfully different news program and it is too bad that it is leaving the air. As you say, it might have been the right program for the wrong time; and I hope that you are able to bring it back when times are better.
