The Red Cross accused Israel of <a title="Red Cross says Israel barred rescuers from shelled Gaza homes" href="http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/middleeast/la-fg-redcross9-2009jan09,0,7449388.story" target="_blank">impeding rescue workers</a> with dirt roadblocks and refusing to grant the Red Cross access to people in need. Israel issued a statement saying that it works in close cooperation with organizations providing aid to civilians.</p>
