Afghan government claims control of Taliban stronghold

The government of Afghanistan claimed control of the Taliban stronghold of Marjah in southern Helmand province today.

The top Afghan commander said the military goals had almost been achieved after 13 days of fighting by fifteen thousand NATO and Afghan troops.
