Grand Ayatollah Hossein Ali Montazeri was one of the leaders of the Iranian revolution three decades ago. But he became a fierce critic of the hard-line regime and said that recent elections were a fraud.
Today, a funeral for the 87-year-old dissident cleric turned into a massive protest against the Iranian authorities.
Ervand Abrahamian, a professor of history at the City University of New York, joins Daljit Dhaliwal to discuss the significance of the protests.
