Fighting erupts in Taliban-dominated eastern Afghanistan

On Monday, army and police fought a three-hour gun battle with Taliban insurgents in an eastern province of Afghanistan almost completely controlled by the Taliban.

For more on the situation there, Daljit Dhaliwal interviews Dan Rather, who recently returned from his eleventh trip to Afghanistan.

Rather was in the eastern part of the country, near the Pakistan border, which has seen some of the worst violence from Taliban insurgents.

Dan Rather is an accomplished journalist and deserve the right to be heard. With Mr. Rather’s knowledge of world affairs and expert journalist reporting – I think we should be grateful for his observance and reporting. Every one seems to be biased against him because he is suing CBS (get over it) and because he reported on GW Bush Military Record which while not entirely accurate was at the same time probably truth – I’m sure that little GW Bush got placed out of harms way during the Vietnam War. Dan Rather was used as an escape goat by CBS who no doubt cowed down to the GW Bush Administration. Great Reporting Dan. JW @ (USA)

Rather than Dan… can’t we get an unbiased opinion from the indigenous “Tribal Lord’s “,perhaps a geographic sample of willing representatives, if such a compromise/detente/dialogue is possible? It seems there are always a plethora of non-influential potentate’s offering up their boderline officious, nefarious, and narcissistic narratives. Let’s get real, and go to the actual source!

Dan Rather does not speak Farsi or Dari. Therefore his assesment is only a 10% of the truth. It was a waste of my time. Hope he did not get paid for this “interview”. I know he is suing CBS and needs money badly. So that is his ultirior motive for the angle he presented.
