Week in review: War crimes in Gaza and missile defense

Carla Robbins of The New York Times editorial board and David Andelman, editor of the World Policy Journal and a former foreign correspondent, join Daljit Dhaliwal to discuss the week’s top stories.

They look at President Barack Obama’s reversal on a missile defense plan for Europe, the battle against Islamic militants and this week’s United Nations report on the war in Gaza — including charges that conduct by Israel and the Palestinian militants amounted to war crimes.

Hamas fires hundreds of rockets at civilians. Hamas uses civilians as human shields, plants arms in schools, hospitals and mosques. Iran continues shipping arms to Hamas.

Have you seen any UN reports on these.?

What shocks the conscience is that the Jews, who suffered under the Nazis, and who repeatedly keep reminding us of the Holocaust, are now committing war crimes, akin to the Holocaust. Some years back, an Israeli cabinet minister who survived the Holocaust said that the images of Palestinian women scavenging for food in garbage dumpsters reminded him of his experience in the concentration camp.

Don’t bother.

Darwin is dead
along with his (dis)beliefs.

Holocaust denial, injustice in Gaza denial, darn, maybe it would have been a better world if the Neanderthals had survived and we had not! I guess Homo sapiens were God’s chosen people – right? I will have to chech with Darwin on that.

Hamas committed war crimes during the conflict. Even some Hamas terrorists have admitted as much. Every-time Hamas violates international laws it squeals aggression and oppression when it gets criticized. It is responsible for the failed Fatah-Hamas talks, and it continues its crimes against humanity in the West Bank and Gaza.

Hamas feeds rockets and machine guns to the starved people in Gaza. Through Iran and Syria. Garrulous, mendacious and pernicious.

You seem to lack imagination.

Israel committed war crimes during the conflict. Even some Israeli soldiers have admitted as much. Everytime Israel violates international laws it squeals “Holocaust” and anti-Semitism when it gets criticised. It is responsible for the failed Israel-Palestine peace talks, and it continues its crimes against humanity in the West Bank and Gaza.

IT SEEMS AS IF THE BUSH ADMISTRATION WANTED TO PUT MISSLES IN EUROPE JUST TO AGRIVATE PUTIN. I THINK IT CAME TO A SPITTING CONTEST BETWEEN CHENY AND PUTIN. THE COLD WAR IS OVER. IT’S TIME TO STOP AND RESPECT OTHER COUNRTIES. THE ONLY WAY TO BE AT PEACE IS TO LISTEN AND NOT BULLY OTHER COUNTRIES THAT WOULD OTHERWISE BE YOUR FRIEND.

I believe that Mr. Obama is right on removing the missiles from Poland etc. It is time to free the World from the tension and the nuclear weapons. Also free the tension in the Middle East and eliminate nuclear weapons included the ones in Israel!! Then there will be no excuse for Iran or other Arab Country to have the need for THAT. Bless you OBAMA, You are a Man of courage.
