Israel indicates a military strike on Iran is possible

In a critical week for U.S.-Israeli relations, four prominent American officials are in Israel to discuss key topics such as Iran‘s nuclear threat and Israeli settlements in the West Bank.

U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates spoke of tougher sanctions against Iran as Israeli defense minister Ehud Barak took a tougher approach, making clear that Israel has not ruled out military action.

The U.S. special envoy to the Middle East, George Mitchell, traveled to Syria and Egypt.

Daniel Levy, the co-director of the Middle East Task Force at the New America Foundation, joins Martin Savidge to discuss developments out of the Middle East.

Germans were asking the same questions about the Jews at one point. You are all clouded with unprecedented hatred and racism. The Israeli society is turning to a society of killers, haters, Xenophobes, and cynicism. Using terms like Riddance is a clear reflection of your values and your willingness to kill. I think Bar Illan University is teaching many of you how to hate and kill regardless of anything on earth

Sam S. : The Arabs say that the 67 war was an Israeli aggression tsk tsk tsk This is from Wikipedia: We have nine, yes nine, Arab countries together against Israel, they loose and then cry foul, and keep repeating aggression aggression.
And then Robert says Israel receiving 3 billion a year, forgets about Egypt receiving the same, ignores that Israel has re-payed every loan and loan guarantees, Egypt none. That Israel has build a society with income per capita equivalent to advanced European countries in spite of military expenses to defend itself.

These bloggers are Israel haters, resorting to distortions and erroneous facts, and using vitriolic attacks. But I will put them straight.

Get your facts right: “The Six-Day War of June 5-10, 1967 was a war between the Israel army and the armies of the neighboring states of Egypt, Jordan, and Syria. The Arab states of Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Tunisia, Morocco and Algeria also contributed troops and arms.[6] At the war’s end, Israel had gained control of the Sinai Peninsula, the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and the Golan Heights. The results of the war affect the geopolitics of the region to this day.
Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser expelled the United Nations Emergency Force (UNEF) from the Sinai Peninsula in May 1967.[7] The peacekeeping force had been stationed there since 1957, following a British-French-Israeli invasion which was launched during the Suez Crisis.[8] Egypt amassed 1,000 tanks and nearly 100,000 soldiers on the Israeli border[9] and closed the Straits of Tiran to all ships flying Israeli flags or carrying strategic materials, receiving strong support from other Arab countries.[10] The Israeli cabinet decided to launch a general offensive on May 23, immediately upon receiving the news that the straits would be closed. Some 70,000 reservists were called up to augment the regular IDF forces.[11] On June 5, 1967, Israel launched a pre-emptive attack[12] This claim was, however, disputed by Arab countries that asserted Israel’s strike was an act of aggression. [13] [14] Jordan, which had signed a mutual defence treaty with Egypt on May 30, then attacked western Jerusalem and Netanya.[15][16][17] and it was defeated. Israel gained access to Jerusalem for the first time since 1948.
In Arabic, the war is called (Arabic: حرب الأيام الستة‎, Ḥarb al‑Ayyam as‑Sitta or more commonly Arabic: حرب 1967‎, Ḥarb 1967. In Hebrew: מלחמת ששת הימים‎, Milhemet Sheshet Ha‑Yamim). It is also known as the 1967 Arab-Israeli War, the Third Arab-Israeli War, Six Days’ War, an‑Naksah (The Setback), or the June War.”

So Sam S. and Robert pack your lies and try to be honest for a change.

Sam, you are forgetting the US s. Liberty that the US placed off the shores if Israel to help them receive all the intelligence necessary to disrupt the Arab communications and strategy.

Israel is no longer that mythological great power that it used to be. First, Israel’s enemies are no longer those backward and divided Arab dictatorships. Second, after being totally defeated by the unknown fighters of Hizb-Allah, Israel will not stand a chance against a well prepared and trained Iranian military power.
If Israel has the means of attacking Iran and winning, they would have done it long time ago!
Israel is very much becoming like those Arab countries who know nothing else but talk, talk and talk…!

I lost all respect and admiration for Israel.
They have itching fingers to get more and more territories for the jews. Just cut the money!!!!

#8

Any aggression by Israel against Iran would be in the interest of the Islamic regime in Tehran. Israel is well aware of this fact. By threatening and possibly attacking Iran, Israel looks for an opportunity to expand its territory, as it has done it illegally during the last 60 years. And of course, as usual, everybody who crticizes Israel for its crime against humanity, would be labeled as “anti-semite!!”

David you wrote that the west bank was acquired during a defensive war in 1967. But Israel did the attacking, the Arab states were defending themselves from Israel aggression. least you forget the Mossad motto is to create war thru deception, that deception being the fake memo that Nasser received from the KGB that stated Israel was planning on attacking Syria, so in response Egypt massed their troops on their own border to protect Syria in the event Israel attacked, which Israel did, so as everyone knows massing troops on your own borders is not an act of war, and you dont need to defend yourselves by attacking and calling it defensive, like the ironic idf is called defensive force even when they are on a offensive strike. so the land was acquired against the U.N. Charter that states that it is inadmissible to acquire territory by war, and is why the International Community give you so much crap about the disputed territories, Israel actions are illegal but because of the weapons massed from USA, noone can do anything about it, and the evil empire of Israel will get away with whatever it wants.

#6

Israel’s provocative, hard security doctrine has had cast harrows/distress in the Mideast region, it is pragmatically suggested that the Israeli government should positively follow the application of the Obama administration’s contrivance of Israeli withdrawal of the West bank settlements-the only way out to settle the Arab-Israeli dispute.

#5

Certain schizophrenic country with aggressive behavior had its wings clipped in the 2006 war. The days of waging war with impunity is over and any aggression by Israel will receive a compelling response. Now if Iran had made similar comments about Israel, Western hypocrites would have been up in arms! What shamelessness.

#4

Israel is acountry out spoken willreact fast whenever its security threatened.naturally no wonder if Israel attacks Iran in near future. It is good for the entire world because rogue nations to be treated like that.

#3

the steps taken by Israel will be appreciated keeping in mind the interests of global security.

#2

It is the right of Israel to choose how it settles its land. This includes the west bank area which (least you all forgot) was acquired when jordan’s aggression in 1967 backfired and Israel won a defensive war with them. We should never forget the destruction of the Jewish quarter of the old city of Jerusalem that occurred after 1948 til 1967. The world watched as century old Jewish religous buildings, cemeteries and grave marker were destroyed or their land used for hotel construction.
World Focus you always present a perverted view of Israel’s existance! Shame on you!!!!

Israel receives ten million dollars a day from the United States, plus the US lends billions of dollars whether or not they are ever repaid;Combined could all of this money that Israel receives be used by the Government to help settlers move into the illegal West Bank Settlements and with the Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of the Likud Party there is a strong likelyhood for an increase in Settlements despite any protests from the Obama Administration.
