PBS Wide Angle’s “Birth of a Surgeon” traces the story of a remarkable program in Mozambique that trains midwives to take on the duties of surgeons. One year after first documenting the struggle of Emilia Cumbane to train for her new duties, Wide Angle returns for an update.

Doctors are hard to train but used for trivially. Nurses and medics can treat a lot of illness. I hope for a day when a good software on a laptop can guide them to treat more illness.
