Surrounded by war, Congolese women find beauty

Worldfocus has reported on the crisis in the Democratic Republic of Congo, fighting that has lasted over a decade and killed more than 5 million people.

Finbar O’Reilly of Worldfocus partner GlobalPost reports on Congolese women living under the most adverse conditions who are struggling to preserve something precious to them — their beauty.

Thank you for such an enlightening weeklong program. It has truly spoken to my heart. My greatest desire is that African Americans begin to see the Continent with a new vision for change.

This was an amazing news feature, the story left me wanting for more. As an African American woman who wears her hair naturally I felt affirmed.
