Politics will determine future of world’s financial markets

Britain lowered its interest rate and injected another $100 billion into its banks on Thursday.

Also, China’s premier laid out a blueprint for the country in a two-hour speech. Though China’s economy is feeling the pain of the economic slowdown, the goal is still 8 percent growth this year.

Ian Bremmer, president of the Eurasia Group and author of “The Fat Tail: The Power of Political Knowledge for Strategic Investing,” joins Martin Savidge to discuss how rising social unrest will impact China’s pursuance of free market policies, how politics drive financial markets and if there is a political solution to the financial crisis.

Ian is a bright young man and I enjoy hearing what he has to say. He certainly has a grasp of world conditions. I also enjoy reading his books.
