Waiting for northbound trains out of Mexico’s south

The Worldfocus signature story Immigrants stream across Mexico’s southern border explores the immigration problem on Mexico’s other border, where Central Americans cross Mexico’s southern border in search of higher-paying work.

Worldfocus’ crew traveled to the start of the railroad line in the town of Arriaga in Chiapas, Mexico. Central American immigrants hang out for hours — and sometimes days — waiting for the next freight train to depart. They climb onto the sides and the tops of these northbound trains.

Hi there-is it possible to connect with Megan Thompson directly through email? I’m a DC-based documentary photographer and I would love to talk with her about this story. Thanks so much in advance! Michelle
