Somali pirates continue to hold hostages

Three weeks ago, a cargo ship carrying steel headed for Indonesia was hijacked. It is one of the many instances of piracy happening off Somalia’s coast.

Per Gullestrup, CEO of the Danish Clipper Group shipping company — whose hijacked cargo ship is mentioned above — speaks with Martin Savidge about how the crew members are holding up as hostages to Somali pirates.

An escort system is certainly part of the answer. The other is having armed merchantmen hunter/killers lure the pirates in and destroy them on a “No quarter given” basis. Pirates were hung in the old days….
