Iran skirts talks with Obama administration

Though Iran has called for direct talks without conditions in the past, its leaders are now backing away somewhat from President-elect Barack Obama, who has expressed more openness to discussions than the current president.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad sent Obama a letter congratulating the president-elect after his victory on Nov. 4, but harshly criticized the U.S. in a speech on Wednesday.
